Question

Act 11sent email doesn't attach in history

Asked by: tblinc

Greetings,

A few weeks ago I posted this

I have this issue only on one computer using ACT! 11.

When the user send mail using ACT, the email doesn't appear in the Act history tab.

My act is configured to send mail using outlook 2003.

I re make the "installation Wizard" to configure outlook 2003 as the good email client. I'm able to send mail correctly using outlook 2003 in ACT but it doesn't show in my history

It didn't work.

Also, I try this : http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/cgi-bin/sagesoftwareonline.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=19948

It works for about 1-2 days and the same symptom come back

Thank you
Frank

Which of the items in that article do you have to fix the next time to make it work again?

Are you using 11.0 or 11.1 - check in Help | About

ACT! by Sage Premium 2009 (11.0) Version 11.1.183.0

I restarted the service (Act.Outlook.Service.exe) and delete every message trying to attach into Act history (In the Act.outlook.service.exe from the system tray.)

If I try to desactivate the " Use microsoft Office Word  2003 to edit email messages" in my outlook 2003 .. then I'm not able anymore to use my HTML signature ( my logo doesn't display anymore).

You should deactivate Microsot Word in the email... this is causing the problem.

You will need to re-create your sig in HTML rather than the Word interface

All right, I'll try this.

But can you tell me why the other users don't have this issue with Word activated ?

by: GLComputingPosted on 2009-09-23 at 11:37:01ID: 25406380

Most users will find emails not alwys attaching if they are using Word as the editor...

It still don't work.

I descativate Word into my office 03 software... My mail are still not able to attach into Act history.

The act.outlook.service.exe is still working.. but unable to attach anything.

This issue slow down my computer since it always try to re-attach the mail.

Thank you

So they do show in the Attach to Outlook box?

If it's getting slow, try this:
http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/cgi-bin/sagesoftwareonline.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=20219

Not sure if you're using citrix or Terminal Services, but even if not, you might check that this path is correct:
http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/cgi-bin/sagesoftwareonline.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=23701

Have a look in the folder: %AppData%\ACT\ACT! for Windows [version]
Is there anything in the folder HistoryQueue\errors ?

Failing that, go to http://www.adsprogramming.com/tools.htm and download "Purge HistoryQueue"
This program will delete all of the files in the  HistoryQueue  folder.  It does it indiscriminately so I wouldn't try  running it while  doing a mail merge but it should reduce the time it  takes to delete the  files by hand. Run the installer and you will have a new program group called  SnapInTools  and the program will be located there.

It still doesn't work..

My attachement are stock in the "attach to ACT! contacts Progress"

and my PC still lag as hell since the history.outlook retry the failed message like every 5 seconds (My cpu is at 100%)

and by the way I have some message in the "not attached messages" the date is : 01-01-01...

And, the "Attach to ACT!" often failed beacause some message can't attach.

Thank you.

PS: I tried every link you send me, and the settings were already correctly configured.

The software you gave me didn't work. I delete the "historyqueue/errors" manually.

It worked for about 5 days.

Can it help if I reinstall the software, do a reg clean and reinstall it ?

by: GLComputingPosted on 2009-10-08 at 11:35:11ID: 25528586

The date issue can be caused if there is a problem with the system clock, I'd check that first
Does that error and the bad date show in the XML in the HistQueue or HQ/errors?
If you stop the ACT.Outlook.Service from Services.msc, then clear out the HQ folders and restart the service, is it ok again?
If that works, try to manually attach one of the emails that failed (withQuick attach) and see if it's an issue with specific emails
Then try all - highlight them in Outlook Sent Items and click Quick Attach
If it fails try and find the one that caused the issue
If you can manually Quick Attach all the emails, then it's likely something on the system that sometimes interferes and you'll need to try and figure out what is being done at the time it fails.

If all else fails, this is a procedure I wrote to get the most clean install possible:
Uninstall any version of ACT! from Windows Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs
Download and run the Uninstaller.exe from the ACT! KB 19338 (the exe, not the manual uninstall)
Uninstall .Net Framework (all versions) - this does NOT apply to Vista users as .Net 2.0 is part of the OS and can't be uninstalled
If a .Net issue is suspected, try this cleanup tool http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/05/30/611355.aspx

Uninstall any MS SQL items from the Control Panel if still there
Uninstall MSXML 6 Services from Control Panel if it's still there
You might do a Detect and Repair in Outlook before continuing
Perform a Selective restart with MSCONFIG as per ACT! KB 14499
Install .Net 2.0 Framework (only 2.0 for ACT! 9/10/11) as per KB 19628  (only XP, not Vista)
Reboot
Install ACT! full install
Install latest ACT! patch if the previous install was a previous build and then any Hotfix
Check task manager to make sure .Net optimisation is finished (look for the setup, msiexec or ngen) - might take up to 10 minutes
Restore from Selective Startup Mode with MSCONFIG
Reboot

Takes time, but will give the cleanest and most stable install.
