Question

The database isnt opened the first time ACT is opened

When I open up Act for the first time during the day Act says that it can not find the last opened database, however when you click "OK" to that message an open dialog box appears and the location is pointed to where the database is and you can see the database file in the open dialog box. If you double click the database file in the open dialog box it will open with out any problems.

Basically I need to open it two times to get it to open, the first time I loads Act in a day or if I reboot.

What version of ACT! (full build from Help | About)?
Is the database local on that machine or on a network?
How much RAM on your machine?

Version 11.1.183.0 Hotfix 1
It is shared on a network. Once the machine does connect to the database, you can close and open act 100 times and it will connect of the first try but if you reboot or log off and back on again you have this problem.
There is 2GB of memory in the machine.

Firt thing to check is that ACT is not trying to open a database that no longer exists.  Go through Tools > Preferences > Startup > Startup Database and ensure this is either pointing to the database you need it to or that it is set to last opened database.

If the database is on a differnet machine then you may have a networking issue in that your machine doesn't recognise the network location on first open.

The last database opened cannot be located. This is the error message.

I went in there and set it to open the specific database instead of the last database and now it opens properly. Thanks.
