When installing Goldmine on a workstation we accidentally selected the wrong option and selected goldmine corporate rather than goldmine workstation. From this moment in time any users trying to log back into goldmine are asked to provide a path for the idapi32.dll which we can locate at \\server\goldmine\goldmine
\setup\bde
share\idap
i32.dll , however when we select this and click ok it clears the path for the and still asks for specified file. Some users remainde logged in and they are working perfectly.
Do the clients need educating, are the clients looking to the wrong installation of Goldmine, are the clients looking in the wrong place for the database?
I feel the problem is centralised and on the server becuase workstaions that were working perfectly all ask for the idapi32.dll on logon to goldmine. I think there must be a file or files on the server that all the clients need when executing the goldmine client application. I feel that this file is either missing/corrupt/access denied or has been overwritten with the wrong information. This file probably tells the client machine where to find, or how to use the BDE Administrator.
Clients that are already logged in to Goldmine are working normally. The problem is with clients that log out and back in. When they re-log in they are asked for the path to the idapi32.dll. We think that the issue is with idapi32.dll or idapi32.cfg
If we log out a client from Goldmine they will not be able to get back in so a server reboot is a last resort and not an option.
http://support.frontrange.com/support/goldmine/500_BDEandGoldMine.htm this URL explains part of the problem and we have applied these fixes but it still does not work.
I think the clients are looking in the wrong place for the BDE information that they need, but this could be completely wrong.
