The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Best way to send group email to most current dynamic (database-driven) contact groups?

Asked by centerforward in Contact Management, Exchange Email Server, MySQL Server

A presbytery (parent organization of churches in a geographic area) is looking to set up a dynamic relational database to hold things like main church contact, committee chair, committee members, clergy, volunteers, etc.

(We might choose existing software, or might hand-code a php/mysql web-based interface).

So the "churches" or "volunteers" or "clergy who are also committee chairs" lists would be changing as various administrators managed the changing information from day to day.

A top priority application ("use") of this final DB is to be able to quickly and easily send an email to the current group of "clergy who are also committee chairs" based on the live database.

My question is:  Is there a tried and tested solution out there already that is made for this purpose?  Something that really works?  I'm not familiar with any BRIDGE between the database and the email client.  I think we're flexible about migrating email to a client that plays well with a DB, but I'm not aware of any bridge that exists for this.  It should be easy to build group criteria by nickname, and have it go grab the current data, and compose a new message to that superset of contacts (with duplicates removed).

The closest I know how to do it at this point, is to handcode a mysql/php relational database with web-based interaction, run a query to output a semicolon or comma delimited list of email addresses based on their criteria, and have the user copy and paste that long list into the "To:" field of their email client --- and that isn't a very polished solution.

Any advice about what's out there and what works well would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Alan

(Does Exchange do this?  well?)
