The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Data transfer using .IXF

1) We have Db2 6.1 EE servers on 2 DB's on 2 mainframe m/c's running OS/390. These are source.

2) Target is DB2 6.1 EE server on midrange running AIX.

3) We know that we can connect from AIX to OS/390 i.e. midrange to mainframe using DB2Connect. Can we use DB2Connect to connect from windows desktop DB2 6.1 EE to OS/390 mainframe. Sorry for this aside.

4) Back to original. We want to connect from AIX to OS/390 and export .ixf files. These will fall into AIX file system and will be imported locally.

5) What I find is when an error occurs for a particular record complete rollback does not occur. Only that particular record in .ixf is not imported but rest are and commited also.

6) Is there any way to trap all kinds of errors and under any error condition issue rollback else in the end commit will occur. We are interested in automation using job scheduling of DB2 OS commands/DB2 commands OR Operating system scheduling itself.

7) For import we will use LOAD command/utility. Any deficiency in load command over that in higher DB2 versions.

8) What are the other ways of export/import where rollback occurs during import like SQL scripts, SQL stored procedures, Java stored procedures etc.

9) Another aside. Is it that DB2 6.1 and higher versions when compared in exactly same h/w and s/w environment, DB2 6.1 is fastest.
