The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

URGENT! DB2 v7.1 performance question

Asked by TomasHelgi in DB2 Database

Tags: , ,

   Hi!

Here at work we have DB2 v7.1 on Mainframe.
And I have been doing some performance analysis on part of the tables related packages.

There is a 6 column table with one 2 column primary index. Rowcount shows around 83000 rows.
In querymonitor one package on that table shows on a 2 hour interval following
Primary index   >5 million GetPages 99.95 hitratio
Table                578          GetPages       0  hitratio
The total CPU on that package is 6:59.742637  and the CPU% is 28.85

The query in this package uses just one column of the 2 column primary index in where clause and it seems as if the DB2 system
is scanning the index more than it should normally. Right ?

Now this is a very robust and busy system.
I have implemented an index with all the columns (3 in total) in the where clause of the query in the test environment (1000 row table)
and I would like to put it on the prod table as well as the testenvironment shows that that index is optimal for
this query.

Now the question is : Would I benefit on the PROD system in putting on that index or would that affect performance regarding insert/update/delete on that table based on the querymonitor info ?
