The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How to get records affected from DB2 update stored procdure

Asked by rmk in DB2 Database

In VBA using ADO I normally execute a SQL Server update stored procedure using the following code:
Dim lngRecordsAffected as long
dim cmd as ADODB.Command
...
cmd.Execute lngRecordsAffected
The variable lngRecordsAffected tells me how many rows got updated.

However when I try this with a DB@ update stored procedute lngRecordsAffected is always zero even though some records did get updated.

My DB2 connection sting is:
Provider=MSDASQL;DSN=CMS File Sources;UID=myid;PWD=mypassword;

My BB2 sdtored procedure is
CREATE PROCEDURE CMSFILTST.PROCJCTMST_UPDATEBUDGETAMTFORPRIMARYKEY (
      IN I_CONO DECIMAL(2, 0) ,
      IN I_DVNO DECIMAL(3, 0) ,
      IN I_JBNO VARCHAR(6) ,
      IN I_SJNO VARCHAR(3) ,
      IN I_JCDI VARCHAR(15) ,
      IN I_CSTY VARCHAR(1) ,
      IN I_RCTY VARCHAR(1) ,
      IN I_EECL DECIMAL(3, 0) )
      LANGUAGE SQL
      SPECIFIC CMSFILTST.PROCJCTMST_UPDATEBUDGETAMTFORPRIMARYKEY
      NOT DETERMINISTIC
      MODIFIES SQL DATA
      CALLED ON NULL INPUT
      SET OPTION  ALWBLK = *ALLREAD ,
      ALWCPYDTA = *OPTIMIZE ,
      COMMIT = *NONE ,
      DECRESULT = (31, 31, 00) ,
      DFTRDBCOL = *NONE ,
      DYNDFTCOL = *NO ,
      DYNUSRPRF = *USER ,
      SRTSEQ = *HEX
      BEGIN
UPDATE CMSFILTST . JCTMST
SET BUDGETAMT = - BUDGETAMT
WHERE COMPANYNUMBER = I_CONO
AND DIVISIONNUMBER = I_DVNO
AND JOBNUMBER = I_JBNO
AND SUBJOBNUMBER = I_SJNO
AND JCDISTRIBTUION = I_JCDI
AND COSTTYPE = I_CSTY
AND RECORDTYPE = I_RCTY
AND EMPLOYEECLASS = I_EECL
;
END  ;

How do I get the number of records updated when using a DB2 update stored procedure?
