The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Update statement in DB2 SQL. - Column Qualifier or table undefined.

Asked by molar in DB2 Database

Tags: DB2 SQL AS400 iSeries

Hello experts.

I am reasonably familiar with SQL Server, but a complete novice with DB2. I have a SQL statement that I have defined in TSQL. I tested it on SQL Server and it works fine. I was hoping to run the same statement on DB2. No such luck. The error I get is "Column Qualifier or table undefined"

The statement takes a set of records on a table, and copies them across other areas of the same table..

I have changed a couple of the field names to make them more readable, but the syntax is the same.

TSQL as below..

update t1
set accountcode = t2.accountcode
from accounttable t1 inner join accounttable t2
on t1.accountnum = t2.accountnum
and t1.subcode = t2.subcode
and t2.costcenter = 'MODEL'
where t1.costcenter <> 'MODEL'

The idea is that the accountcodes that are held for the model cost centre, a copied across the table, so that they apply to all other cost centres.

Each combination of costcenter, accountnum and subcode is unique in the accounttable.

How can I modify this statement so it works in DB2?

The DB2 interpreter doesn't seem to like the first reference to t2 on the second line.
