Asked by XPUSR in MS SQL Server, Data Manipulation, MySQL Server
Hi experts,
I have a webservice which exposes large quantities of data (in XML format). I need to load the data into a SQL Server 2005 database. This data will need to be loaded periodically(e.g. 5 times daily). Certain data elements of the XML will need to be fromatted and have specific business logic applied to it.
I understand that it is no longer necessary to write a custom application to do the required tasks instead there are tools such as SSIS that can automate it the tasks. By required tasks I mean the following: poll the webservice server, download the XML, parse the data into memory, apply the business rules and then load the data into the database.
Can you please let me know what sort of tools are available and which are recommended(an Open Source Software application would be very much desired)?
Thanks,
j
