One of the reasons why I don't like OziExplorer is that it requires you to scan your own maps, as opposed to automatically loading them in off a server. It also takes an inconvenient format for waypoints.
OziExplorer is a cool piece of software, but if you just want to see a "you-are-here"-type dot on a map, go with USAphotomaps because it's free. If you want to navigate, use ExpertGPS (the trial limitation is that it puts logos on the map, so sometimes it makes things hard to see until you zoom in or out to move the logos).

There are a few titles you can try. ). It will pinpoint your location, and automatically load map data (aerial photos and topo maps) off a server with a single click (well, almost). It also does routing and navigation, as well as waypoint and route transfer to/from virtually any GPS unit. This is my personal favorite. It is a little pricey but has a 30-day trial that I used constantly (until it ran out).
One is called ExpertGPS (http://www.ExpertGPS.com/
Another is USAphotomaps (http://www.jdmcox.com/). It is a lot less functional than ExpertGPS, but it is freeware. It has the same mapping functionality, but simply displays a dot at your location, and nothing else (no navigation or waypoint management).
Hope this helps!
