Find a lost cell phone using GPS
My boss left his cell phone in a cab at the airport.
His cell phone has a GPS chip installed.
The cell phone is turned on.
The carrier is Sprint.
The Sprint customer help line is telling me, GPS could find the cell
phone.
But, I have to contact the local retail store.
The local retail store - laughed in my face.
Is this a possiblity? He is desperate to get it back - it is also a PDA(Sprint Treo600)
If this is possible, how do I accomplish finding it?

I believe that GPS features may only be turned on remotely by E-911 (enhanced 911 emergency services).
It's taking a lot to have gps-locator company to search for a stolen car, even with a police report, and sometimes it can take
a week before they start searching.
So, for a phone, forget it. I know it's not the answer you're looking for.
But $$$ is not there when looking for a phone.

Did you try ringing the phone and offering whoever answers it a reward to tell you where to collect it from?
The answer is -NO-. This feature (remote GPS activation) has been intentionally disabled to protect privacy.
The GPS features may only be turned on remotely by E-911 services (that's 'enhanced' 911). Most 911 systems now automatically report the telephone number and location of 911 calls made from wireline phones, a capability called Enhanced 911 or E911.

I lost my cell phone need to track it using gps
Talk to your phone carrier. They are the only ones who would have the power to enable this feature. Likely they would just replace your handset and report the other as stolen which would keep if from being activated by whomever currently has it.
I lost my cellphone and want to know if there is any software out there that can find where I left it.
