Hello,
GPS/GSM tracking hardware that is installed in a vehicle must have power, and must have two antennas installed for the GPS radio and the GSM radio. Thus, without having to go and purchase expensive snooping hardware/software, which requires a fair amount of understanding to use properly, it would be best advised, and most easiest, if you merely made a physical inspection of your vehicle.
The most common places these devices are installed are in the trunk, under the front dash, or sometimes in the engine well. With little effort, you should be able to locate the device and it's power feed and two antennas wherever they may be installed. The device itself will be about 4x6 inches, perhaps up to 12x12 inches(maybe larger depending on age, manufacture, cost, etc.). It will have a little slot that accepts a cellular SIM card, just like the one you use in your GSM world phone. It will have the power lead going into it, and will have two antenna cables, which should have the twist-off connectors(little mini connectors). Sometimes the antennas are more then 2 meters away from the device, and often times they are installed in the door, or the little corner strip that separates your vehicle's front windshield from the driver or passenger door, as this means the antenna is high, and with little obstruction, thus providing better signal strength for both receiving and transmitting.
Some in-vehicle GPS/GSM trackign devices have additional connections that interface with the vehicle's computer and/or alarm system, in which case that type of tracking device would be that much easier to locate, as it would have more connecting cables under the dash. Either way, you should be able to find out in under an hour of searching, and if you can't find it yourself, but you still strongly feel one is in your vehicle, then go to a car stereo installation store and ask on of the techs to take a looksy for you... you may have to spend $10-25usd, but that is a financial decision you will make based on your need to know!
