The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

GPS Tracking Device

Asked by AAIAdmin in GIS & GPS Programming, Navigational Systems

I run an outdoor training program for high school student.  One of our exercises is teaching survival techniques in the wild.  I want to send them out in groups by them selves and see if they can survive for two days.  They have different objectives to complete during the time in the wilderness, which leads me to my question....

Because of liability issues, I can't actually leave them completely alone.  However, the goal is to make them think they are completely alone. To accomplish this, I want to secretly place a GPS tracking device in each groups belongings so that I can track their progress and mistakes along the way.  I need a device that can I can use to track each of these groups.

I know of numerous devices that use GPS tacking technology that interface with Google Earth, but this will NOT work for me b/c I don't have access to the internet where I'm going.   Also, I have found a few technologies that use radio signals, but these won't work either b/c I will rarely have line-of-site with the groups - it is a mountainous region so getting a direct shot to each device will not be possible.

What I need is a few GPS tracking devices to place in their bags and then another GPS device with a mapped display that I can use to see all these devices in relation to where I currently am at.
