I've googled for OLE and ODBC drivers and while I a couple that looked promising, once installed they did appear as options when I tried to attach with Access or VB 2005.
The database is on a SBS server which also has Sql (msde) databases on it, which seems to confuse things since all the programs want to connect to the MS databases by default. I'm open to using different software to create the reports. I'm just more familar with Access than anything else. TIA

firebird databases are normally .fdb files, interbase files were .gdb files but then MS made that a problem so they became .ib, please be sure that it's firebird you have.
odbc drivers should work ok, you will need to specify the path to the .gdb file, the default login is sysdba with a password of masterkey. A firebird odbc driver is available on www.ibphoenix.com
