ldap read-only proxy

I'm looking for free ldap-proxy, which can be configured in read-only mode(if it makes any sense).
The machine for proxy is RHEL5. Currently I configured simple port forwarding with xinetd, but still I'd like some piece of software with more control.

http://ldap-proxy.sourceforge.net/ is unsuitable, processes x509 requests only.

OpenLDAP can work as ldap proxy.
You can choose the backend type for OpenLDAP and can select 'LDAP' there.
Also you can configure your own access list, overriding the remote one.

I haven't time to test it (since port forwarding works it's no longer prio task).
I believe You right and will get the points, but I'll hold this Q opened for a while...

you could run a ldap slave and add
"updateref       ldaps://ldapmaster"
to the slapd.conf.


all reads could be pointed at this ldap sever. THe writes would be redirected to the master.
