how to synch up LDAP to an Canon imagerunner 5185i

I want to synch up LDAP and active directory to a canon imagerunner printer.  Please help.

Usually, you need:
A username and password that can browse the LDAP tree
Exchange must have LDAP access enabled (usually is by default)
The search base, e.g. dc=com,dc=companyname, dc=users
The IP address or hostname of the exchange server.

Mostly you need to feed ready made output to a printer using cups, lpr-ng, lpr or lpd.

LDAP is about users information... If it about configuring identified user access then you should have a document with the printer that tells you how to configure access to an LDAP based authentication server.
And the previous expert probably meant LDAP server in stead of the Exchange server. Ohterwise he correct in the information needed.

The Author is probably trying to set up scanning to email, NOT printing.
He also mentions Active Directory, (which is Microsoft's implementation of LDAP)

Actually, an Exchange server IS usually an LDAP server (although not a full implementation).

Unlkess he wants to use LDAP authentication for printing, in which case, using AD, he will need Kerberos authentication too.

I will try all the solution you guys have inputted.  Actually, I am trying to synch up our LDAP to our AD so that users will not need to change their password eveytime they change password for our security.

ok, that might be a challenge, as the AD does not expose passwords that are available on windows DC's only.
Actually that is a kerberos issue not an LDAP one.

Depends on what you want to do, but most MFPs allow you to set a default username and password for scanning to email or to folder.

We usually set up a seperate user for the MFP, for exactly that purpose.

Thanks again Guys for all the input.  I found this radio button on the Canon copier Authorize Send that will synch up to the LDAP when user change their windows password.  The only downside is users needs to input their username/password everytime  they scan to their network folder.
