Question

Filter disabled users from LDAP search in Printer

Asked by: MaltusW

Hi guys,
I am setting up LDAP on my Xerox 7655 printer and all works good, expect that I cannot filter out the disabled users.  I don't have the option of moving the container with the disabled users out of my search root either.  I have tried putting:

&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)( !(userAccountControl:1.2.840.113556.1.4.803:=2)))

into my search filter but to no avail.  Hoping someone could help.  Attached is a screenshot of where you input the filter settings

HI there,

The syntax would be.

(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(!userAccountControl:1.2.840.113556.1.4.803:=2))

Slightly different to what you posted. This is the correct LDAP filter syntax to get all user accounts, except those that are disabled.

I tried it in both places (Email Address Book Filter & User ID Query Filter )  just to make sure and neither worked.  When I tried it in the User ID Query Filter everyone, enabled and disabled still showed up.  And when I put it in the Email Address Book Filter no one showed up.

Hi there,

I can assure you that the filter is correct. Try pasting it into a new saved query in ADUC (select Custom Search, then the advanced tab) - you'll see that it works.

Maybe just try the (!userAccountControl:1.2.840.113556.1.4.803:=2) bit by itself an see what that returns.

The filter syntax is correct and does work. If the printer interface is not coming back with the correct results it may be an issue with that.

Hi Tony,
I did a custom filter in ADUC and you are correct, it doesn't show any disabled users.  I am surprised that the Xerox interface is showing them.

Thanks for your help.

I tried the proposed solution, and it was returning no results on my Xerox Workcentre 5632 until I modified the query string as follows:

(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(cn=*LDAP*)(!(userAccountControl:1.2.840.113556.1.4.803:=2)))

Once that string was used, the workcentre returned only enabled users who matched the search string I entered.
