I am trying to create an ADC connector on a |Windows 2000 Domain Controller installed with ADC Tools to connect to a Exhcange 2003 Server. There is a field that asks for the Port number of the exchange server and the requested LDAP port of 389 is not Listening on the exchange server due to which I am not able to create the connector. Kindly provide you expert comments how I can set this up.
Windows is using the LDAP port of 389. In the connections tab of Exchange 5.5, change to port 390, identify 390 on your ADC connection and it should work.
Guys I am have a Windows 2000 Domain controller on which the ADC connector is running and trying to create a connection to an exchange 2003 server. i cannot find any option on the exchange 2003 server to change the port number to 389
Do you not have Exchange 5.5? The ADC is used to connect Exchange 5.5 with Active Directory. And when you are configuring the connector, it needs a port identified to connect to Exchange 5.5. It will default to port 389, but since Windows is already occupying LDAP:389, it needs another port to communicate with Exchange 5.5 on. So, if you open the Exchange Administrator (Exchange 5.5) and go to: Site > Configuration > Protocols...and open "LDAP" you will see the port identified. Change the port to 390. Then, back on your ADC setup; where it defaults to 389 -- change it to 390.
As MrLonandB says you cannot connect to an Exchange 2003 server using ADC as the information is held in AD not Exchange 2003. You would create a Windows Connector not an Exchange connector (only use this for Exchange 5.5)
