What to do error 84b30002 when installing SQL 2008 service pack 3
The windows "Check Update" has avialable "Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 3 (KB2546951)", a 371mb update . When we proceed download, we get an errer Code 84b30002. Our PC is Windows Pro 64bit.
How can we successfully insstall this update?

Download the update manually from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27594 and install. Without windowsupdate. This error is not installation problem, it's windowsupdate problem.

Ok started running the recommendations and after the "regsvr32" of a series of *.exe, it return the error of "The module failed to load" for the following with thier info:
- The module "browseui.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.
- The module "browseui.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.
- The module "gpkcsp.dll" failed to load.
- The module "initpki.dll" failed to load.
- The module "mshtml.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.
- The module "msxml.dll" failed to load.
- The module "muweb.dll" failed to load.
- The module "qmgr.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.
- The module "sccbase.dll" failed to load.
- The module "shdocvw.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found.
- The module "slbcsp.dll" failed to load.
- The module "wuaueng1.dll" failed to load.
- The module "wucltui.dll" failed to load.

Ummm... you aren't running Vista by chance are you ? Read : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940520 and follow the manual steps...

Worked!!! Fixed the problem (I guess all the Check Update, not only SQL update file download).

Can you clarify, what exactly worked? Was it resetting windowsupdate per KB 971058?

Don't know. All we did was run the link ID: 39532900.
After the restart, ran the update and "bang!", it worked!
