The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

SQL query help needed

Asked by totsubo in Databases Miscellaneous

I have two tables as follows:

INVOICES:

id              integer primary key
req_del_date1   date
req_del_date2   date
req_del_date3   date
cancelled       boolean
ship_separately boolean

INVOICE_LI:

invoice_id      references(id) in INVOICES
prod_id         references(id) in PRODUCTS
quantity        integer
cancelled       boolean
received        boolean
shipped         boolean
ship_now        boolean

I need to know which products are needed to fill invoices that can be shipped and how many of each product. The criteria for a shippable invoice are:

- are not cancelled
- the max of the three requested delivery dates is more than 8 days away.
- have at least one line item that is received
- if the ship_separately field is false then *all* line items for that invoice that have not already been shipped or cancelled must be received, OR at least one line-item has cancelled = false, shipped = false and ship_now = true

In order to help figure out if the requested delivery dates are more than 8 days away I have written a database function that returns true if either of the three dates if more than 8 days away. I use it like this:

select max(req_del_date1,req_del_date2,req_del_date3) > (timestamp'today' - interval'8 days') from invoices;
