Question

How do you uninstall MDAC (ODBC)?

Asked by: idmnstr

I loaded the incorrect version of ODBC drives when attempting to re-install lost application. I installed version 2.573.9001.00 of "Microsoft for Oracle". I later discovered that I need to install version 2.573.6526.00. When I attempt to re-install the older version I receive a message indicating that 2.573 is already installed.

Jim

mdac_typ file is there?

by: idmnstrPosted on 2003-04-02 at 13:07:03ID: 8256630

Raseniero,

I do not unstand what you mean when you ask;
mdac_typ file is there?

I downloaded two files from MS;
mdac_typ.EXE
mdac_typ_25sp2.EXE

I want to use mdac_typ_25sp2.EXE but I can't because I used mdac_typ.EXE earlier.

I want to uninstall the newer version, mdac_typ.exe, and install the older version, mdac_typ_25sp2.EXE.

Regards,
Jim

Why newer one supports all the features of old and bugs fixed. 99.99% of the time you get same results with newer.

from what i gather, you just need to copy the DLL from the older version and overrught the newer with it (SQLSRV32.DLL)

You should be able to use the component checker utility to verify which versions of MDAC are instlaled and there should be a http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=8F0A8DF6-4A21-4B43-BF53-14332EF092C9&displaylang=en

Also under the following link under Rollback

Hi,

Thank you all that have responded.

I am sorry, I was not clear as to why I want to revert to an older version of MDAC.  The software application that I am using is only compatable with the older version.  I did not know this untill I tried to re-install the application.

TheSpirit,I am not sure how "component checker" helps me.  I already know what version I have of everything.  This is all the utility seems to do for me.

Mnyne, The rollback feature is exactly what I am looking for.  Do you or anyone else know how to perform this with the version I have?

Regards,
Jim

Load SQL2000 SP3. It seems to fix most of these errors or problems with Brute Force.
