Connect to server through stored procedure

Is there a way run a stored procedure on server A that connects to and runs on a database on server B? I've been using a linked server, but isn't going to cut it anymore.

We often need to repoint linked tables from one source to another and we use TRANSFERDATABASE or TRANSFERSQLDATABASE in MSACCESS.

you can use, you need to use like this

[SERVER].[DATABASE].[OWNER].[OBJECT]

OPENQUERY, and 4 part SQL names both require a linked server.   Linked servers use Remote Procedure Call (RPC) under the hood.  Why is RPC not something you want to use?

Not sure what RPC is. I'll check BOL. I ran into the problem you mention - need linked server to do the other solutions.

Let's say:

Select * from [ipaddressofserverwhereIwanttoexecutequery\ServerInstance].database.dbo.t_table1

This won't work unless I have ipaddressofserverwhereIwanttoexecutequery\ServerInstance as a linked server.

Why don't you use OSQL to run an SP on a remote machine? For example on ServerA you could run the following statement running on SERVERB:

OSQL -S ServerB -i INPUTFILE_CONTAINING_SP -d DATABASE_NAME -E
