Browse All TopicsHi,
I try importing data from an excel file using ado and vb6.
The problem is that excel the ms jet tries to analise the first 25 rows of the sheet and it makes some automatic conversions, eg. cuts down the fist chars of the phone numbers, etc...
The question is: how to say to the jet engine that all columns are simple TEXT.
Using csv I can create a schema.ini file and say to jet that the format of all columns is text.
How to do that for an excel file?
I use connection string like this:
ConnStringEx = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OL

Hello cosie,
The easiest thing to do, IMHO, is to create the Access table first, set up the appropriate fields as
text, and then do the import.
