Question

Insert or update a record if it already exists

Experts,
I'm trying to Insert a record into a Table, but if already exists, I need it to Update instead.
I've tried some code with mysql and oracle syntax, but Cache doesn't seem to like them.

You can see from my 2 code samples what I'm trying to do.  Please let me know how I can change the syntax to something that Cache will like!

INSERT INTO CODES.GoalDesc(GOAL_CODE, GOAL_DESC, ACTIVE)
VALUES('MG0001','Resolve Barriers',1)
WHERE GOAL_CODE

What version of Cache are you using ?

Cache 2007

You can not use this sql statement in cache.

There can 2 solutions:

1. You may run a sql command first to get count, if count>0, update, else insert.
2. You can write an insert trigger in your class code, which will check, if the record already exist, it will update, else do normal insert.

Thanks.  Was hoping Cache will allow that SQL statement.  Will try those workarounds.
