Browse All TopicsHi,
I'm on Informatica 8.6.1. I'm trying to create the repository server from the Admin Console, using Oracle 11g as the database. I'm getting the following error.
<Quote>
Failed to logon to Database server Database driver error... Function Name : Logon ORA-12504: TNS:listener was not given the SERVICE_NAME in CONNECT_DATA Database driver error... Function Name : Connect Database Error: Failed to connect to database using user [bandi] and connection string [bandi].
</Quote>
My Listener is like this.
LISTENER =
(DESCRIPTION_LIST =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1521))
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
)
)
Can you help me fix the issue?
Thanks!
Bandi

seems the Listener of the Server doesn't know about the instance.
For STATIC registration of the Oracle service to the Listener:
Go to the remote 10g installation where the Oracle server resides.
Backup LISTENER.ORA file!!!!!!!
In ...\network\admin open listener.ora
see
SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
(ORACLE_HOME = D:\Ora10g)
(PROGRAM = extproc)
)
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = test)
(ORACLE_HOME = D:\Ora10g)
)
)
Add the entry
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = test)
(ORACLE_HOME = D:\Ora10g)
)
with regard to the particular Oracle Home and SID Name.
Restart the listener:
c:>lsnrctl stop
c:>lsnctl start
