Are there any Universe experts here?
We need some Universe 11.1.0 expert to ask some Questions.

The idea of Experts Exchange is to ask the question.  It is difficult to say at what level an expert you need if we dont know what the question is!

Hi Neilsr

Our question is how can we make the Database data visible?
Neilsr,

It is difficult to say at what level an expert you need if we dont know what the question is!

The author is asking for an expert who knows "Universe 11.1.0", not for an Universe level expert.

So, just to understand: you need to know how to create a new Universe, right?
you need to know how to create a new Universe, right?
In 7 days?

Hi all

you need to know how to create a new Universe, right?
In 7 days?
LOL :-) No comment...

Our question is how can we make the existing Database-data visible?

I think you need to clarify what you mean by "visible."

Visible to what?  Users on the Internet?  Application servers within your network.

Thanks you both for trying to help me!

@giltjr
"visible."
How can the customer see his data? Can he import this data to another database?

@mlmcc
He told Ruf. Can this be true? I will ask him again.

I don't understand the question?

What tool are you using to create the universe?

@ mlmcc & giltjr

I got the data from the customer:
http://www.hotlankanews.com/app/download/5615424517/WGF.zip?t=1337596137

Please use my nic to extract. All small :-)
I will delete the data after it's downloaded!
Please treat these data confidentially and do not to pass them to third parties.

Can someone tell where are the data?
How can I import this data into another program (Like SQL or Access)?
We just need the raw data as tables.

Thanks,
--> Please use my nic to extract. All small :-)

Not sure what you mean by "use my nic."  NIC's don't extract data, they provide network connectivity.  And not sure what you mean by "all small."

--> Please treat these data confidentially and do not to pass them to third parties.

Um you posted the link to their confidential data on here?    Not something you should do.

Are you the one with the universe db?  If so  can you check out the uvexport  command.

You may want to read:

Not sure what you mean by "use my nic."
I supect they mean as in nickname (EE alias name)

And yes, if confidential it should be removed ASAP.
We talk about IBM UNIVERSE aka U2 SQL database, it has nothing to do with DWH Universes, or one where stars are hanged above in the sky.

Do you want to
GRANT ALL TO PUBLIC; ? Or you mean something else by visibility...
@giltjr
I mean my username (nic for nickname) to extract the zip file.
No we are not the one with the universe db... unfortunately.

To all
--> Please treat these data confidentially and do not to pass them to third parties.
This data are not sensitive! Nobody can start anything with this data. Otherwise I would not have uploaded. But I mean it's still some kind of data...

How can we import this data into another program (Like SQL or Access)?

Hi gheist (nice to see you again :-) )
Yes as I told in ID: 37983463 it's IBM UNIVERSE
What those files look like are the "raw" db files.   I don't think you can do anything with those files unless you have IBM Universe.  Even then, I'm not sure you can easily do anything with those files.

Whomever has the data base needs to extract each table into a format (typically csv) that you can then import into another dbms.
Are every one in the same opinion? One company says that they can convert these files to Access tables.
I am sure there are a few companies that can convert these.  They either:

1) Have IBM's Universe and know how to get it to use the files as a DB, export to csv, and then import to Access.

2) They know the format of IBM's Universe db files and have written a custom program to extract the data straight from the raw files.
Ok thanks giltjr. Can someone else export these data?

You are right. Although I didn’t get the answer that I expected to have we can accept this answers as the solution. I would like to give all, more points and sorry because I can’t give more.
Again I want to tell all thank you for trying to answer my question. I will close this question and ask a new question.
