I would like to export data from MS SQL Server and import to MySQL in other machine. About 500MB data. Because these 2 machines are not connect together, so I would like to put the exported data in CD and for transfer. What is the best procedure to achieve this task?

i agree to mr_peerpol, the ms sql-server has the DTS Import/Export-tool,
which connects to the database via oledb. you only have to install
the mysql-odbc-driver:
http://www.mysql.com/downl
create an odbc-connection to your mysql-db and now you can
import/export in both directions...

As said b4, the 2 databases (in 2 machines) cannot directly communciate (deal to the problem of firewall), so directly transfer cannot be done! Therefore, we must make use of another media for transfer. Also, it would be great if more detail procedures can be listed out in operating both SQL Server and mySQL (as I am new in it).
for example, I need to transfer a table with the following structure with about 500MB data in MS SQL Server:
CREATE TABLE employee(
EmployeeId INT NOT NULL,
LName VARCHAR(30) NOT NULL,
FName VARCHAR(30) NOT NULL,
Address VARCHAR(100) NOT NULL,
HireDate DATETIME NOT NULL,
)
and needs to tranfer to MySQL (create a new table there, so we can define the structure ourselves, no constraint here)

in
ISQL run the following query
Select convert(char(10),Employeei
+lname + char(9)
+Fname + char(9)
+ Address + char(9)
+Convert(char(19),HireDate
from employee
e.g. ISQL -Uuserid -Ppassword -Sserver -Ddatabase -iInputfile -Ooutputfile
can use -T or is it -E if you've got a trusted connection instead of the -U -P
the select statement is outputing a file from your table with the columns
tab delimited (the char(9) i believe)
and the rows ending with a newline character char(15) (i believe)
the date is converted to YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss
then on Mysql run the create table statement
and then
use
LOAD DATA INFILE inputfilename [REPLACE/IGNORE]
INTO TABLE tablename
