IF condition in a MySQL query

Hi,

I have this table: tbl_1

Type     Value
x              1
x              2
y              1
z              0
x              3
y              1

I'd like to get the average of Value when Type = x in one sql query.

I tried this: SELECT IF(Type='x', AVG(Value), 0) FROM tbl_1

The result I want is: 2   [= (1+2+3)/3]
but it gives 1.333 [=8/6]

Or even better, I'd like to get the average of values for x, and the sum of values for y. And this in one query.

Is this feasible?

SELECT AVG(Value) FROM tbl_1 WHERE Type='x';

is your best bet.

I know this one actually, but I would like this:
SELECT [AVG(Value) WHERE Type='x'] AND [SUM(Value) WHERE Type='y']

If you really, really want to use an IF statment, do this:

SELECT AVG(IF(Type='x', Value, NULL)) FROM tbl_1;

This should work for you:

SELECT
 AVG(IF(Type='x', Value, NULL))
 SUM(IF(Type='y', Value, NULL))
 FROM tbl_1;
