Define a specific integer range for a mysql field

Hi Experts,
I am just new to MySQL...
I am wondering is there a way to define a specific integer range for a MySQL field.
For example, I want to create a field in the MySQL database for integer values between 0 and 5.
is this possible, and how?

Set the field type to "enum('1','2','3','4','5')".

 I thought that the enum type is for enumeration of strings only and if I used integers using enum they will be considered as strings not integers!

It worked when I inserted then updated with WHERE clause.  Tell me if it doesn't work for you.

enum is the correct method to do this, no other methods will give as consistent or fast result.

But what is the difference between enum and set?

sets are not indexed correctly
sets are limited to 64 elements
you have no control over what number is stored behind the scenes with a set
sets have limits over what can be stored in them
you have trouble performing mathematical operations on the data stored in sets.

Enums can only have one value selected.  Sets can have more than one.

jackmcbarn: if you have a proper normalised design then this will not present problems - additionally sets are slow when you have multiple records, as there is not as much development with the functions and engines that utilise them
