Best practices for install and configure on Windows 2003

Asked by Kevin3NF in MySQL Server, Databases Miscellaneous

I am a 9 year SQL Server veteran, with hundreds of installs...and an escalation engineer for all things admin...

That said, my team is now responsible for all MySQL installs as well.  Big new customer need 30 MySQL 5.0.37 on Win2K3 installs by the end of the month.  We can all follow the bouncing wizard and accept the defaults, but I would like to know the things that are going to come back and bite me down the road.

Anybody have a link to a "top 10" list (similar to the Access 10 commandments) for install points?  Or want to make one in this thread?

These installs need to be as solid as I can get them, and in a repeatable process...:)

Thanks!
