The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. Update Statement - Field Case When... error in syntax

In the attached code snippet, is an example of a Stored Procedure that I am creating in MySQL. In the procedure, I am doing an update to a table, on which it is left joined to itself so that I can do a comparision to what the value was, to what we are updating it to, then for each field has a case statement that if it is different it fires off a function. The function's parameters are parameters that are needed to log any update to the field, and the return of the function is the new value back to it to update the field appropriately.

All that aside... its really a basic Update statement with a case... but I am getting the error

Script line: 4      You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'END' at line 436

There are over 50 fields in the update statement, but I have only included 2 in the example below... its all of the same thing for each field. These are the last two fields in the statement, which the last one is the line number that the syntax is yelling at.
