The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Alter column in table with sql statement

Asked by Nicci_Leitch in MySQL Server

I somehow have done something to my database and caused a small error that I don't know how to resolve.

One of my tables is called order_total and in that table one of the fields is called text.

The text field contains money values and displays the amounts of money of orders.

i.e. ot_subtotal, ot_shipping, ot_total.

The database adds these together and shows me them on my admin orders page on my website.

Somehow though the symbol in front of these values has changed from £ to ? and I don't know how.

Here are some examples of how the values look in the table

orders_id 15
 title Sub-total:
text ?24.00
value 24.000
class ot_subtotal

orders_id 15
title Flat Rate (best way):
text ?4.95
value 4.9500
class ot_shipping

orders_id 15
title Total:
text <b>?28.95</b>
value 28.9500
class ot_total

As you can see with all the orders with all these parts it would take me hours and hours to edit them individually by hand and as I'm still learning all this I was wondering if someone could help me out with an sql statement so that I can change all the ? symbols back to £ at the same time.

Many thanks in advanceStart Free Trial
