MySQL: query returns no records

Hi X-perts,

I am stacked with a simple thing...maybe someone can spot some problem here. This is a fragment of a few MySQL queries based on Virtuemart db class library:

1) when I echo the query strings and execute them manually via SQLyog, they returns correct results (a single row each)

2) the second part ($dbw) does not return any fields and the calls like $dbw->f("user_id"); are empty.

what is wrong here?
