The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Oracle 9i Client Local Account vs Domain User Problems

Asked by DMS-X in Oracle 10.x, Databases Miscellaneous, Oracle Database

Tags: , , , ,

I just migrated our oracle database that was running on 9i to a brand new server running 10g. I am having a problem with the oracle 9i clients connecting now. I named the server that is running 10g the same netbois name that the 9i server was running to avoid reconfiguring all of the 9i clients. The 9i clients are not able to connect to the new server when logged in as a domain user. However when I log into the server as the local administrator I am able to connect just fine. GRRRRRR.

Using the net configuration assistant I tried to test  the connection to the Oracle 10g server using the test option in the local net service name configuration. When logged in as a local administrator it passes but when logging in as a domain user it fails. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get this fixed. I have completely uninstalled oracle 9i from a workstation and reinstalled with out any luck. When reinstalling 9i I installed as a local administrator of the workstation I also tried reinstalling as a domain user. I also tried completely wiping out the domain users profiles without any luck.

Funny thing is if I install the oracle 9i client on a new workstation that has never had oracle installed before then both domain users and local users can connect to the 10g server. So I know there must be a registry key or some file hanging around that is causing my problem.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks.Start Free Trial
