OK, I'm in need of some assistance.
I've installed ORACLE XE onto my works laptop, I followed the pre-installtion instructions from
http://orabase.blogspot.com/2006/08/loopback-adapters-for-oracle.html with regard Loopback etc. For the non-routable IP i used 10.10.10.10.
I added the entry into my Hosts File, so it now looks like :
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.0.1 UK010000.uk.int.jings.com
10.10.10.10 UK010000.uk.int.jings.com UK011037
and i have checked that the followin services are both running - they are !
* OracleServiceXE
* OracleXETNSListener
I can set up a connection to the d/b via SQL Developer and logon with the details (SYS/Password) I provided when installing Oracle XE, I have proven this via doing a 'select * from XDB_INSTALLATION_TAB' and i get a result set.
The problem is i cannot connect to the d/b via
http://127.0.0.1:8080/apexThe error i get is

Now looking through my McAfee firewall log i see the following BLOCKED TRAFFIC
McAfee Desktop Firewall Log
19 January 2008 17:25:39
Time: 19/01/2008 17:25:31
Event: Traffic
Address: 10.10.10.10
Description: Oracle RDBMS Kernel Executable (oracle)
Path: c:\oraclexe\app\oracle\pro
duct\10.2.
0\server\B
IN\oracle.
exe
Message: Blocked Incoming TCP - Source 10.10.10.10 : (1389) Destination Local : (1137)
So the firewall is blocking Oracle XE, that what i think anyway, but whatever I do I cannot configure the firewall to allow access throught McAffee Desktop Firewall vesion 8.5.059, this PC is built from work so some of the McAfee entries are greyed out, BUT I CANT add new firewall rules/groups.
But whatever i type of rule i add, be it a trusted IP of 10.10.10.10 and/or subnet 255.255.255.0
I have tried adding rules to allowLSNRCTL.exe and oracle.exe but to no avail
any advice, i am fairly sure its a Firewall Issue...but i am at a loss on how to solve it.
Many thanks in advance
Cheers
