Issue With 3 Oracle Tables

Greetings,

I have an issue where the temporary fix involves rebuilding the indexes on to come in the next day or two to rebuild the indexes on these 3 tables again. The developer complain that they were unable to update or insert to the 3 suspect tables. This is an Oracle 10gR2 database. Please advise.

Check to see if there are scheduled jobs that could be doing things that would invalidate indexes, such as "alter table move" on the base table.

what is the issue?

what happens when the updates and inserts are attempted?

The just indicate while attempting to update or insert it does not allow that action and it only occurs in that particular table.

what normally clears it is a shutdown immediate and rebuilding the indexes online. would like to find a permanent fix.

It sounds like you haven't seen the error yourself, but are taking the report from another user. Unless you can provide an actual error code, I cannot help.

what is the "it"?

what is the problem exactly that you are trying to fix by rebuilding?

please be specific as to what errors code (ora-xxxxxx) or other symptoms you are trying to alleviate

once i shutdown and startup they are able to insert into the 3 suspect tables and this only occurs on 3 tables.
