Oracle database 9i replication

hello,
can anybody give step by step Oracle 9i one way replicaton documents or link. The Oracle database 9i running on windows 2000.i have start from the scarp/beginning for the one way replication of oracle database 9i on windows 2000.pl. also let me know whether i use Oracle   9i streams or Advanced replication.

actually ,
I am getting error ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred .

My primary side sqlnet.ora is like this
#NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH=(tnsnames, onames, hostname)

My remote side sqlnet.ora is look like this
NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH=(tnsnames, ezconnect)
 SQLNET.INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT =300

Can you please advice me for the above, bcos i get the ORA-12170 sometime or sometimes not.
there is any special setting for sqlnet.ora or tnsnames.ora files for replication.

You can not connect to the remote DB.
Given that you post the question in the "Oracle 11g" thread
I suppose the second DB is Oracle 11g.

There is a problem with the static registration.

Before solve this proble check if something (firewall, false IP or computer
domain name, etc) prevent the normaol link to that DB.
Check the entries in TNSNAMES.ORA.

After that check if the service is known

lsnrctl services

and if the Listener is up

lsnrctl status.

The database also coulb be down ...

Now about the registration:

Go to the remote 10g installation where the Oracle server resides.

Backup LISTENER.ORA file!!!!!!!

In ...\network\admin open listener.ora

see

SID_LIST_LISTENER =
  (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
      (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
      (ORACLE_HOME = D:\Ora10g)
      (PROGRAM = extproc)
    )
    (SID_DESC =
      (SID_NAME = test)
      (ORACLE_HOME = D:\Ora10g)
    )
  )

Add the entry
    (SID_DESC =
      (SID_NAME = test)
      (ORACLE_HOME = D:\Ora10g)
    )
with regard to the particular Oracle Home and SID Name.


In Oracle 11g you have to create from scratch in the listener.ora file the section

SID_LIST_LISTENER =
&..

mentioned above.


Restart the listener:
c:>lsnrctl stop
c:>lsnctl start
