Our College Still Teaches Oracle 10g - I Need Suggestions

I'm taking Oracle Courses in one of the colleges. I have taken the first course which is
Oracle Database 10g: Introduction to SQL. Its also a preparation of 1Z0-007 exam. However, the next course is Oracle PL/SQL (Oracle 10g: Program with PL/SQL). I thought they switched to 11g, but i was wrong. This second course prepares me for 1Z0-147.

1. 1Z0-007 and 1Z0-147 for Oracle 10g. Are these two certifications acceptable by employers or not anymore?

2. What 11g exams equivalent to 1Z0-007 and 1Z0-147?

3. Are there much difference between 10g and 11g exams?

Its all about knowledge, but getting certs wouldn't harm too, Would it!

imho:
1) of course but there experience is much appreciated
2) take a look into:

those exams are also for oracle 11g (eg. OCA)
3) you can pass 10g exam and then upgrade to 11g (eg. OCA, OCP).

is a course for 11g. It is identical the course for 9i, only iSQLPlus is away and is replaced by SQLDeveloper, regular expression are explained. So it is easy to learn some new chapters. I also have problems because I teach 9i. So I decided to prepare 2-4 new chapters and to refresh so my old 9i course.

I can not say the exams for 11g, but all what you know about 10g is valuable for every employeer.
So if your courses are not paid or the price is not the whole price for standart Oracle courses (about 3,000 $ in the States) I will encourage you to visit them.

When a real-life experience is required and i do not have it yet. Can i get accepted if i create my own experience by building several databases such as hotel database and restaurant database that meets real-life requirements and complex queries with all documentations reviewed by experts db developers that proves i can do the job. Do you think this will help me get interviewed? I'm thinking to build two or three professional databases based on the skills i have/i will gain.

Be brave! I entered in Oracle as old dinosaur and could find job. You are young and definitelly will succeed. Be advised that the only things corporations in the States can not ofshore are the Data Bases and the networks!
