Question

new Oracle 11g install: warning: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned public IP addresses.

Asked by: epifanio67

Hello Experts,

During Oracle 11g initial install I get the warning below. I am not sure how to fix.
all environmental variables have been set correctly including ORACLE_HOSTNAME.
But, I am still getting the msg below. Does any one know how to fix to continue with the install? thx

Check complete. The overall result of this check is: Not executed <<<<
Recommendation: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned public IP addresses. However, the primary network interface on the system should be configured with a static IP address in order for the Oracle Software to function properly. See the Installation Guide for more details on installing the software on systems configured with DHCP.

It means use a static IP address for your primary interface. If you don't have one you'll have to set the hostname to point to the localhost / loopback address (127.0.0.1).

Doesn't it give you the option to continue by clicking and acknowledging the warnings?

You can also try installing by starting the installer with "-ignoreSysPrereqs" but you'll need to run OUI from the command line instead of clicking.

thx mrjoltcola...

it does give you the option to continue.... if I do, would the db act up?
