The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Oracle 9i & Forms 6i - FRM-10256 - User not authorized to run Forms Build Menu

Asked by rdgale2000 in Oracle 3rd Party Tools

Here we go again.

It has been determined to start over - bring the forms from 4.5 to 6i, and the database from 7.2.3 to 9.2.0.

Forms 6i will talk to my 9i database, however, when I try to run a form through a 'Menu' (MMX file), I get a message: FRM-10256: User is not Authorized to run Form Builder Menu.  Followed by a message: ORA-06508 - PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called

The 'Extended' explaination for FRM-10256 is:
FRM-10256: User is not authorized to run Oracle Forms Menu.

Cause: You are not enrolled in Oracle Forms. You do not have SELECT permission on the Oracle Forms base tables.

Action: Notify your DBA.

Question #1:  How do I 'enroll' in Oracle Forms?
Question #2:  What are the Forms base tables?

If I correct these two problems, will I be able to run a 6i 'MENU' on a 9i database.

More information:

Forms 6i require that you have a seperate 'Oracle_Home' directory from the Oracle 9i 'Oracle_Home'.

Originally, Forms 6i was installed prior to 9i and the creation of the database.  I have since 'reinstalled' the 6i forms, but to no avail.Start Free Trial
