I don't think you have any choice any more but to use the OUI. You can generate scripts for a slient install, but thats about it.
We have in the past used WISE and SMS to generate client packages, and although they do work most of the time, you end up having to manage the dependancies yourself. Once you end up with multiple homes, all bets are off unless you are prepared to reinstall all the Oracle packages in the correct order.

You could run Oracle installer in non-interactive mode. But again, for your application, you still need an additional step.
