The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

'Multiple-step operation generated errors. Check each status value' issue with a date

Asked by mes_vmeyer in Oracle 3rd Party Tools

I get the following error 'Multiple-step operation generated errors. Check each status value.' when trying to read a date field from a recordset.  The data has been selected from an Oracle database.  I know the issue is going to be with the date '28/02/1903' when it should be '28/02/2003'.  The problem I have is I want to find a way around this record to keep processing.  The Customer this data belongs to, can't get this record fixed yet.  They have been dealing with the database software company for 4 months.

We can't run our program that accesses their data as it bombs when it gets to this record.

When I had the client query the database through an ODBC database query tool, the offending record's LEAVE_DATE appeared as:-

3-02-24 00:00:00

instead of

2003-02-24 00:00:00

I need to know if there is a way to convert the date or know it can't be handled and skip the record?  I didn't try any formatting on the date field when I selected it in the SQL Statement.  I tried formatting it TO_CHAR(PAYDATE,'DD/MM/YYYY') and the date then came up as 24/02/0003.  This will still not work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Hopefully I have supplied all the necessary information.  This is the first time I have used this site.
