Thanks Carsten,
Can someone tell me the hurdles/adv/disadv of writing ProC/OCCI. One comparative analysis. I know each of them separately.

This question must have been asked to the rogue-wave team. I am posting it here to get the opinion of different people.
We have an application written in C++ in HP_UX connecting to Oracle 8.0.6. We use the legacy product of Rogue-Wave - RWDBTool to do all the Database operations.
Currently we need to migrate to Oracle 9.i. My question is ... will the RWDBTool support the connectivity to Oracle 9.i? What are the potential problems we need to consider before starting the work?
Any comments in the related area are welcome.

I see some Oracle related problems: There are some details that have changed since 8.0, but mostly in the PL/SQL part and I don't think your use that. Rogue Wave Users don't do that :-). If you don't have code within the DB everything should work fine. We switched from 8.0.6 to 9.2 (Hp-UX, too) without any problems although with have hundreds of triggers, views and packages.
I would be very concerned about the precompiler! Seems that Oracle doesn't like C-programmers anymore - our C-coders were very annoyed and had a lot of work migrating their code and makefiles. This could be a horror in combination with RogueWave.
We are about to remove all RogueWave traces from our software ... it turned out that choosing Rogue Wave (1993) was a big mistake...
