Question
oracle reports parameters
hello
i have an oracle(6i) report based on something similiar to this:
SELECT * FROM emp
WHERE dept_no = :p_dept
and the parameter p_dept list value is based on the following query:
SELECT distinct dept_no, dept_name FROM dept
and it works fine, every time i call the report from the form (6i) i get the list box and i can choose which department's employees to display.
I also want to have the option to display all employees from all departments.
how can I modify the SELECT statement to achieve this.

Hi,
Assuming dept_no is a number datatype and 0 is not an existing department number, you can change the query to
SELECT * FROM emp
WHERE dept_no = :p_dept
OR :p_dept = 0
And change the query that retrieves the possible values to :
SELECT dept_no, dept_name FROM dept
UNION
SELECT 0, 'All departments' FROM DUAL
ORDER BY dept_no
