I am need help in writing query for my report using oracle reports
I have 3 columns this is output of a query
id_ current_ history
1 XXX Default
1 XXX XXX
2 YYY YYY
3 Default Default
4 ZZZ ZZZ
4 ZZZ ZZA
The output that I need is
Id History
1 XXX
2 YYY
3 Default
4 ZZZ
I need show the pervious value when a change occurs
Default when no change
I am working on oracle 91

See your output records (For id=2), You want output as "YYY" where as it has not changed. Don't you want "Default" In that case?? Or you just want the current_ column to be displayed in all cases??
If you want to display "Default" if no change is there, then use the below, If not then please clarify.
select distinct id, (case when cnt = 1 then 'Default' else current end) History from (
(select distinct id, current, (select count(distinct History) cnt from table where id = t.id) cnt from table t)
);
You can use the oracle function "lag" to get your requirement done.
Try this query. It assumes that there is a timestamp/date column called "ts" in your table , and the latest timestamp value points to the latest record.
select id, nvl(prev_curr, history)
from (
select id, lag(curr, 1) over(partition by id order by ts) prev_curr, history,
max(ts) over(partition by id) mts, ts
from tbl1)
where ts = mts
/
