Hi, I have been working in the IT field for about 3 years now. I do a myriad of things for this company from building applications (mostly in PHP and I am also getting some hands-on Java experience) to building and maintaining a MySQL database that has some 10,000 subscribers. I have deployed these applications on a Linux ES3 machine. My background: an MBA in finance and an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. I am now looking to enhance my IT skills and thinking of doing the Oracle DBA certification as I have enjoyed working with databases. My questions are as follows:
1) How difficult are the OCA and OCP courses? I am planning to do the course in addition to my regular 40hr per week job.
2) I am planning to do this course at TechSkills as they have a flexible schedule and good online learning material (which I cannot confirm). Has anyone done an OCA/OCP course at TechSkills? I would like to have any advice on taking the course.
3) Given my background will an Oracle DBA be a good fit? I do not have any experience in Oracle but have worked extensively on MySQL databases and have a good grasp of SQL.
Thank you for your assistance in helping me make this decision.
