9i or 10g DBA Certification?

I have been working as Oracle Developer under unix platform for over a 5 years.

Lately, I have been feeling like being under a glass ceiling.

I wish to expand my knowledge to Oracle DBA side particularly, Oracle Architecture and Performance Tuning, as on work I get a lot of errors related to SGA, Tablespaces, Rollback Segment, LogFiles and Sql and Pl/Sql Performance Tuning which I hardly understand.

I guess this covers most of what Oracle DBA certification course covers. SO, I want to go for a Oracle certification.

I am undecided whether I should go for a 10g DBA or 9i DBA.

I have been told that 9i certification course covers concepts very well and gives indepth knowledge while 10g DBA is mostly point and click interface and new features.

Also, 10g DBA is very expensive around Rs.80,000.

If I go for 9i certification + upgrade to 10g through 10g New features it costs me Rs.70,000 so I save Rs.10,000

Also 11g is released and 10g is a passe.

Hope I am thinking on the right track, Any guidance?

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.
