Need to know more information on OAF and oracle EBS API so that I could be ready on taking up task of developing them soon. What should I know to get started - is a regular PL/sql package or procedure knowledge enough or do I need to know Java to know about OAF? Can anyone throw some more light on this .. I am planning to start working on this soon..

how can I get started in understanding OAF being front end replacing forms and how do I write application (like plsql packages) to communicate between user action to the application and display the results.. like for simple example if a user has a screen and presses a button and displaying "HELLO WORLD" message -
You have to learn Oracle Forms and to download (for free) Oracle Developre Suite (with Forms and Reports)
There are big books how to work with Forms, but on the OTN you can find short "How to" articles like the attached.
on the net you can find and download good pdfs how to work with EBS, but the problem is that it is a hard task to install it at home. the software is not public. So the first step is to learn SQL, PL/SQL, Forms, Reports.
In R12 Oracle replaces the Forms with Java Forms (jDeveloper).
I have worked on SQL,PLSQL exatensively but not on forms and reports, I have not written any java stored procedures.. is that sufficient to move to OAF? which is the basis of my question earlier that I posted.. I would like to see a transition path to OAF that I can feel comfortable - can we start with java stored procedure? how much of forms and reports knowledge is needed?
It is very very complex situation.
many colleagues fear Java - the basic frameworks are complex and get obsolete extremly soon - in 2-3 years.
Forms and reports are old Oracle technologies but Oracle is trying to move to Java entirelly.
I can not predict the future ....
But SQL, PL/SQL will be alive for many years for sure.
