I have an application done in Oracle Forms 6i version which i need to migrate to Oracle 10g.What is the best preffered way of doing this and what will be the impact of this migration,is it a big level of modification or minor?
There are three ways to upgrade your Forms modules from Forms 6i to Oracle9i Forms: · Using the Forms Builder (Interactive) · Using the Forms Compiler (Batch) · Using the Forms JDAPI (Programmatic/Batch) In addition, there is the optional step of using the Oracle9i Forms Migration Assistant to find the features that are obsolete, or which have changed in Oracle9i Forms. For full details on how to migrate your Forms applications, refer to the Forms Migration Book on the Oracle Documentation CD, or downloadable from OTN
dileep the same applies for 10g too. You also have a number of ycompanies who do the same work. You may mail contact@4spl.net if the number of files is too high.
The same procedure can be used to migrate to 10g. Even more - each version of Developer Suite (10g also) has a subroutine to bring the Forms from previous to the current version.
There are many companies and using Google you can find them.
But be aware that the top of the wafe has been changed. Now Oracle is trying to substitute the Forms in E-Business-Suite with pure Java Forms using JDeveloper. Possibly it is worth to pay for this.
