Free cities database

Does anybody know where I can get a free (or reasonably cheap) international database of cities with state/province, country, zip/postal code, etc.?  Would prefer to download it from the Internet.

Here is the latest info available about the country/state code.

Information last updated on 21 August 2000

http://www.din.de/gremien/nas/nabd/iso3166ma/index.html

Try search for ISO-Country Code in internet.

You can get geographic data from the ArcData section at

http://www.esri.com/

although most of them are commercial ones.

Your answer seems to be the closest of them all.  At least it gives me two countries.  I'm thinking that there really isn't a free database that has all cities in the world.
